Orthodontic treatment gently moves teeth into better positions using braces or other appliances. It can correct crooked or crowded teeth, gaps and bite problems.
Braces are small brackets fixed to the teeth and joined by a thin wire. At regular visits the orthodontist adjusts the wire, which puts gentle, steady pressure on the teeth and moves them slowly over months. When the teeth are in place, a retainer helps keep them there.
